Lake Burton fishing report

Water Clarity: Clear
Level: 7ft below full pool and dropping
Water Temp: 52deg

Trout:
The DNR has completed their stocking of Brown Trout for the year. An estimated 24000 trout have been dispersed throughout the lake. These fish are aggressive and will eat about anything you cast to them. The bigger trout are up in the creeks spawning. These bigger fish are slow to eat but should be back on a normal feeding in the next couple of weeks after the spawn. Try trolling big spoons or cranks baits in Herring colors about 2 mph for these bigger fish.
Bass:
The Spotted Bass are glued to the bottom. We have seen very little too water action over the last few weeks. We rely heavily on our electronics this time of year when trying to find the bigger fish. Most of the big Spots are on a 20 to 32ft bottom. Casting a sinking swim bait seems to be the ticket (white). Most of the bites we have been getting are very soft so be patient. Giving a little more time when setting the hook can be beneficial. Look for the fish to pull up a little once the water has stabilized from the turnover. There are schools of Herring from one of the lake to the other. Following these schools of bait has produced the best number lately.

Good luck!
