Lake Burton Fishing Report

Water Temp: 52 deg
Water Level: 4ft low
Clarity: clear

Bass:
The Spotted Bass bite has been great the last few days. We have caught most of our fish over a 12 to 17ft bottom. Herring Color jerk baits have been the go to bait. Most of the bigger fish have been following the schools of Herring close to the main lake channels. We have also been using a Super Fish Super Spin tipped with a minnow style trailer. Work this bait in the 15 to 25 ft depth using a slow roll retrieve. 3/8oz has been working best. Keep a topwater plug handy for surfacing fish. Don’t be surprised if you catch a 5-6lbs Spotted Bass.
Trout
The Brown Trout are still in the backs of the creeks. We have been catching most of our trout on the same jerk baits that we have been using for Bass. Be aggressive working the jerk baits, these trout like a lot of speed when retrieving. We have caught some fish trolling spoons out over the main lake. Try targeting the 20ft depth range and maintaining a speed of 2.5 to 3 mph.
Walleye
The Walleye bite has been a little slow the last few weeks with most of the fish concentrating on spawning. The spawn should be over soon and these fish will be biting again. Try working brush lines along the banks in 20 to 30ft of water. A small jig tipped with a live minnow or a fluke jr works well.

Good Luck
