Lake Burton Fishing Report

Water Temp : 69 deg

Level: Full

Clarity: clear

Trout:

The Brown Trout bite has really picked up over the last week or so. These fish are holding on a 20 to 30 ft bottom. We have been trolling small crank baits on the down riggers in Herring colors and casting big white Rooster tails to the surfacing fish when the wind is not blowing 30 mph. Most of the fish we have been catching are small but June seems to always be the month for the bigger females to congregate on the southern portions of the lake. These fish are following the Herring schools up and down the main lake channel. Most of the Herring are small that I am seeing so try using something in the 2 to 3in range when trolling or casting.

Bass:

The largemouth have complete their spawn and are starting to feed again. These fish have been biting small top water baits around docks and near bushy cover. The Spotted Bass are spawning and should finish up in the next few days. The will then work towards the main lake and creek channels for cooler water. These fish seem to love the drop shot this time of year. Don’t be surprised if you catch a wall hanger in the next few weeks!

Walleye

The Walleye have been biting slow lately with all the weird weather patterns Georgia has been presenting. The fish we have been catching are big. The trolling bite will pick over the next few weeks and be strong until the water temps hit the 80deg mark. Try trolling a small silver jerk bait these seem to always work well in June..

Good Luck!
