Brown Trout
The trout are spread throughout the lake from the backs of the creeks to the main Lake channels. Trying to target these fish can be difficult. We have been looking for schooling fish rising on the surface and casting spinners and small crank baits to them. This is probably the most effective way to catch a good number of Brown Trout this time of year. The trout will continue this pattern for the next several weeks.
Bass
The Spotted Bass bite is on fire right now. They are feeding throughout most of the day. Try working long points and ditches. We have been using jerk baits and swim baits in the ditches on on quick dropping ledges. I typically work these areas until I find a fish or two. Try spending some time once you have located a couple of fish. There will be several fish in the same areas. Don’t be surprised if you catch a monster Spot or Large Mouth. The Spot will continue to be nomadic for the next few weeks in search of food before the spawn.
Walleye
The spawn should be winding down and most of the Walleye population will be in the creek and river channels of the Northern Georgia Lakes. These fish will remain here for several weeks and feed on the vast Blue-Backs that are close by. Try working small fire tiger rapalas or yozuri crank baits in a #5. Work these baits slow. The Walleye are slow taking the baits sometimes. Tipping a bright colored jig with a minnow and working the bottom is is another effective technique. The Walleye will start slowing migrating towards deeper water over the next few weeks although a few will remain in the channels until the water temps near the 70’s.

Good Luck
