Lake Lanier Fishing Report

The Striper have finally made their way North on Lake Lanier. Gainesville has been a good area to catch a good number of fish. We have not been seeing the bigger fish but have been catching alot of them. The topwater bite has finally taken off. We are seeing fish schooling on top throughout the day especially on cloudy rainy days. Try casting Long A Bomber or a small Jerk Bait to these fish. A small 1/4 Capt Mack’s Bucktail is a must have this time of year. This jig replicates a small threadfin shad or a small Herring. These fish seem to key in on smaller baits this time of year. Covering a lot of water and looking for fish on the sonar is critical during the winter months. The bigger fish should start showing up soon.
Good Luck!
