Brown Trout

The Brown Trout bite has been unreal the last few days! We have boated some real healthy fish in the 5 to 8lbs range. These fish are aggressive and are really fat with the supply of bait ( Blue- Back Herring) that we currently have. We have caught fish on both live bait and artificial. Trolling small jerk baits like a Lucky Craft Pointer 78 and a 1/2oz Superfish tipped with a white fluke have been working well. The target depth seems to be 25 to 30ft. This will slowly change over the next few weeks with the water temps nearing the low 80 mark. Fishing for these trout early in the morning and late in the evenings will be best in about 2 weeks.

Bass

The Spotted Bass bite has been a little slow over the last few days. Most of the fish have finished up spawning and are trying to recover. Look for these fish along the sea walls or close by deep water docks. They are holding close to the spawning Blue- Back Herring and gorging themselves on them. A Yellow Perch colored jerk bait works well with these fish. Look for these fish to start feeding a little better over the next week or so. Drop shot will be working as we head towards July.
